# Kora

> Kora is a free, open-source (MIT) macOS desktop app, developed by faithdevs, for running AI coding-agent CLIs through one keyboard-first interface. It runs the real Claude Code CLI and adds session tabs, split view, several accounts side by side, and a status bar with live context-window, token and weekly-usage meters. Kora never stores credentials and makes no network requests of its own.

- Developer: faithdevs (https://github.com/faithdevss)
- Version: 0.1.0 (early release); built from source
- Platform: macOS 10.15+ (Tauri 2: Rust backend, React + TypeScript UI). Linux and Windows are not available yet.
- Agents: Claude Code is supported. Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor Agent and Aider are planned; each needs one Rust adapter file behind the AgentAdapter trait.
- How it runs Claude Code: `claude -p --input-format stream-json --output-format stream-json` over stdin/stdout. There is no terminal scraping, and slash commands pass through to the CLI.
- Accounts: each account is a separate CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR profile signed in by the CLI: `/accounts add <name>`, then `/accounts login <name>` prints a sign-in command to run in a terminal, then `/accounts refresh <name>`. Kora stores only email, organization and plan.
- Usage: context-window gauge, session tokens in/out, and a weekly meter from the CLI's own rate-limit reports. Warnings at 70% and 90% context, with an optional auto-compact. Cost is real for API-key accounts and labeled as an estimate for Pro/Max subscriptions.
- Content: markdown, syntax highlighting, diff viewer, image and file attachments, code-block copy/save/open-in-editor.
- Search: scrollback (plain, regex, fuzzy) and full-text search across saved sessions (SQLite).
- Shortcuts: ⌘K search, ⌘⇧P palette, ⌘T new tab, ⌘D split, ⌘. stop, ⌘, settings.
- Privacy: no telemetry; strict CSP; the webview has no filesystem or shell access; agents are spawned with argv arrays.
